Hello, my name is Ms. Everett and I wanted to start off by saying how much I’ve benefited from the East River Strengthening Collaborative Family Success Center. I’ve had the chance to take the Shopping Cultivating Trips, which I enjoyed soooo much. I’ve also enjoyed both the cooking and financial literacy classes offered by the center. I’m part of the community and the community needs these classes to continue. It educates people about spending, how to use coupons, the cooking classes teach people how to cook, and cooking dishes that don’t take up a lot of time. All of these classes are needed and the community can really benefit from them a lot. Thank you.
The classes were amazing, especially financial literacy, which showed better ways of making positive financial decisions, how to create a budget, tracking my spending, and what a 401k is. Speaking for myself, the cooking cultivation class really opened my eyes to the importance of eating healthier, especially for those who suffer from high blood pressure and other illnesses. The shopping trip was so cool. It gave me a chance to socialize, interact with others in a positive space, share food ideas, and compare prices. Hopefully, these classes will remain in the community because a lot of people only have access to what is right within their community.
Senior residents in the Benning Ridge Community have thoroughly enjoyed all the resources and opportunities provided by the East of the River Family Strengthening Collaborative. Their nutritional needs were met as a result of the fresh fruits and vegetables they received from the Collaborative’s grocery delivery program and “Flash Table” which educated them on nutrition and diabetes awareness and prevention. Positive comments are still being made to this day about both programs.
My daughter and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again, for the wonderful shopping excursion on this pass Thursday. I was impressed with the professionalism of you and your team and the timely manner from the moment we boarded the beautiful, comfortable coach, the friendly driver and safe journey to and from Wegman’s. The stipend given to purchase food helped tremendously with the outrageous high prices of food today. I am grateful and look forward to participating in future programs the “Family Success Center” will be providing. I will spread the word
Thank you so much for your help. I truly appreciate you and your agency staff!!
I really appreciate the gift certificate I earned during the East of the River self-care workshop series to Justina’s Hair Gallery. The hairdo came just in time for the ceremony I was in when my son received recognition from the UDC Firebirds basketball team for being a graduating senior. Thank you East of the River for helping me in my self-care journey.
