Community Engagement

This program area is composed of a number of smaller initiatives aimed at increasing the capacity, participation and knowledge of the community and its’ service providers in the prevention of child abuse and neglect  Various activities include:

• Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention presentations
• Trainings on Domestic Violence, child abuse and neglect, mandated reporting
• Town Hall Meetings on specific issues related to strengthening families and children
• Community awareness of issues related to families and children through community events, resource fairs, networking meetings
• Distribution of materials/brochures on ERFSC services and programs; presentation on various services
• Focus groups
• Outreach efforts

Staff, Partner & Resident Development

This initiative aims to enhance and expand the capacity of the Collaborative’s board, members, staff and partner organizations to better identify and support the needs of children families and communities. Through various activities, the Collaborative will promote skills development and access to technical assistance for the partnership network, small neighborhood based organizations and the community at large. Some examples of this program include:

• Community capacity building through proposal writing assistance for partners, grant application assistance, informational seminars, fiscal agent partnership
• FDC training for staff and partners

• Leadership/advocacy development
• Financial literacy and money management
• Life skills development
• Summer camp activities/recreation/college tours and support
• Conflict resolution
• Workforce development
• Youth Leadership Council

• Parenting classes/support groups
• Financial literacy/money management
